What is the SSY interest rate?
As of Q1 FY2024-25, the SSY interest rate is 8.2% per annum, compounded annually. The rate is reviewed quarterly by the Government of India.
When does an SSY account mature?
An SSY account matures 21 years from the date of opening, or when the girl marries after the age of 18 — whichever is earlier. Deposits can only be made for the first 15 years.
What is the maximum SSY deposit per year?
The maximum yearly deposit is ₹1,50,000 and the minimum is ₹250. The full deposit qualifies for Section 80C deduction. The maturity amount and interest are completely tax-free.
